Of course you'd live with me.

[He says it like it's the most obvious thing in the world.]

It would be just us and our pokemon.

[He says it almost wistfully. Now he kind of wants a house here. Maybe it's something they can work towards. He wonders where they'd live. Of course, it's easier for Connor to think about settling down here. He doesn't have any attachments to anything back home. Nothing to miss.]

We'll think about it later.

[Because he has the crushing realization that Connor has no attachment to a dog that he only petted once, but Hank raised since he was a puppy. And with the Electrike there, it seems kind of trite. But he does a pretty good job of not letting the feeling reach his face for once.]

For now, we need to get ready to go.

[He checks his PokeGear, then offers Scout his slice of half-eaten pizza. His appetite bailed on him.] I'm going to go out and get some last minute supplies. I'll be back in a few minutes. [It'll give him a chance to step out and pull his head out of a slump. Connor just made a major accomplishment. He'll let him enjoy it.]

[He likes Sumo well enough, but has no attachment to him. If they had stayed in Detroit, he surely would have been best friends with the dog. He never got the chance to be, though.]

I’ll be cleaning up here while you’re gone.

[And by the time Hank comes back, he’s gotten quite a bit done.]

[It's hard for Hank to deal with, certainly. It's a conversation that he needs to have, and will. Surely they can come to some sort of amicable agreement eventually on at least the potential of being together in both places.]

[He doesn't bring it up now, though. Instead he therapy shops a pile of post-its and stickers and returns with those as well as his useful materials.]

[He had planned for a more intimate celebration, but as the place is cleaned and he had his bout of quiet disappointment and realization, he just goes for a kiss when he comes in, smiling against his lips.] You did a good job.

[Connor does go for a deeper kiss, but he leaves it at that.]

My pokemon worked hard, too. I should do something nice for them.

[He keeps close to Hank, his arms winding around his waist.]

Any suggestions?

I guess [smaller kiss] they're a stage above [another smaller kiss] pizza crusts, huh? [and a nuzzle as he wraps his arms around him]

Maybe just let them run around a little while before we go. [He nips his lower lip, leaving it a little pinker.]

Stop and get them a snack? [Hank thinking of rewards in food, of course.]

I suppose food is always good.

[But Hank’s kisses earn a nip back, and then another slower kiss.]

But you’re being awfully distracting right now.

[He leans into him more, happy to be held.]

Eh. I'm not being very creative right now, am I? [He says against his lips, tipping their heads to better slant their mouths together. As hard as his thoughts have been, it's still nice to have someone to hold. He's wanted that for so long.]

[When that moment is over, he nuzzles him again.]

I should probably stop since we're already packed up. [...and another little kiss.] Mmmm pizza flavor. [And cue the horrible gruff eaty noises as he fake gnaws noisily on Connor's neck.]

[The fake eating gets a laugh, instinctively ducking his head out of the way.]

You really like eating me.

[When Hank stops he returns the favour with a quieter, much more delicate bite to Hank’s neck. Then he presses another kiss to his lips before stepping away.]

When would you like to leave?

I like to hear you laugh. [And that always gets a good one. The small kiss to his neck gets him to pet the back of his head, a gentle gesture before letting Connor go.]

Whenever you're ready. I can saddle up the... dog.

[God this is fucking weird.]

And I can... well, I’m not sure how to ride an Onix, actually. Maybe I just sit on his head?

[He supposes he’ll find out, won’t he?]

Yeah, I was trying to figure out the mechanics of that too. On his head seems like the only place that'd work.

[Hank wanders out loud, leaving Connor's side to go and pick up his pack. He's really going to have to watch how much stuff he gets whenever they stop in places. It's already half full.]

Hey uh... can I ask you to do me a favor? Just because it's important to me.

[Connor looks up from picking up his own pack, curious.]

Yes?

[He’s sure whatever it is, he can do it.]

I know you love this place. And I'm glad you have this place, you deserve it. But I want to have hope for home too.

Even if I can't remember, I'd like to plan for both places. I'm asking for me. So I have things to keep pushing for and some hope and so that I don't get... fuckin' bogged down that deep again. [He has bouts of sadness, but they're not as intense as they used to be.]

I just realized that you never got to know Sumo and that made me kind of sad. And I'd like you get to do that one day. [He slings on his pack, holding the pokeball for Dame in his hand.]

Oh.

[He didn't realise he'd made Hank sad, and he frowns and goes back over to him, touching his cheek lightly.]

I'm sorry. I didn't realise. Of course I would like to know Sumo. He's a good dog.

[Not very useful in terms of keeping intruders out of the house, but that's probably a good thing for Connor.]

We can plan for both places. If we do go home, I'd like to think we'd be together there, too.

[Technically Hank made himself sad by realizing it. But he still accepts the touch, leaning his cheek into it.]

He's useless but he's actually good for hugs.

[Though for the moment he doesn't dwell.]

And it would be really fuckin' nice to have a place that isn't just... you know. Hotel after hotel after hotel. I think I just figured out my childhood dream of being in a band would have been a pain in the ass.

He seems like he would be good for hugs, yes.

[And he smiles at the thought. It's a shame he didn't get the chance to do that.]

Where do you think we should try to settle down? We could see how Goldenrod is. It's a big city, with lots of supplies. We'll be there a while, so we can see how we like it.

Hopefully it won't be too bad. I might be bitching now but I wouldn't want to settle down and then suddenly find the perfect place. Of course though, in magic monster land you can find housing that's actually affordable and you didn't have to spend twenty years paying off.

[He gives Connor a hug himself, one armed, glad to at least get that small concern spoken for.] Alright. Time to go ride a giant Yorkie.

We can look until we find somewhere that makes us both happy.

[He smiles at the hug, before heading out of the door with his pack. Once they're outside he calls out Rocky, who roars happily at being let out. Connor pats his side and motions for the pokemon to bring his head down.]

I suppose this is where I find out if I'm doing this right.

[And he hops up onto the Onix's head, holding onto the protrusion coming from the top of it. He sits with his legs either side of it, and Rocky lifts his head again, leaving Connor hanging on with raised eyebrows. He's glad he's not afraid of heights.]

[Hank lets out Dame, who is as beautiful and silky as ever. And a little bit difficult for him to climb up on. But he does it, finally, settling on the giant dog's back. He looks up at Connor from where he is. High up there. On his mountainous rock snake.]

[He can't stop himself. It's almost there. He needs to say it.]

How's the weather up there?

[Then-]

If you say it's raining I'm gonna climb up there and kick your ass.

[He sounds a little amused, though.]

[Connor blinks down at Hank, before looking around.]

The weather is the same up here as it is down there.

[But boy, is it chilly sitting on cold rock. Good thing the weather is nice today.]

[Connor not getting a joke has turned from an annoyance to a highlight. He just smiles a little to himself.]

Alright, well. You lead the way. You're better at this than me. FUCK!

[Hank startles because Dame just decides to run a lap around Rocky. Just out of excitement. He mashes himself close to her back to keep from falling off. But she's very excited to go.]

I'm good! [He says when he's sure he's not about to die by hyper dog.]

[Connor can’t really help from up here, so he just looks on in amusement at Hank’s plight. Unsure of how to make Rocky start moving, he just taps his horn.]

We’re going now.

[Rocky starts moving forward, letting out a low roar as he goes. Connor holds onto the horn tighter and glances down at Hank.]

I wish I had a pillow.

[His ass is going to be sore.]

[And it won't even be Hank's fault this time!]

[However, as they're just setting out, he uses two fistfuls of dog fur as reigns and slows Dame down.] Wait! Wait, hold on.

[And he gets off, pulling off his coat and then pulling off the padded sweater he has on under it. Something warm to travel in. But his partner's woeful booty is more important than some slight chill- the dog is warmer than the Onix.] Here!

[He tosses up the sweater for Connor to tuck under him. It's not a full cushion but it'll pad it a little.]

[Connor catches the sweater and folds it before sitting on it.]

I appreciate it.

[Hank has saved him from sore booty. His hero.]

Let’s go, then.

[And the Onix is surprisingly fast. It can keep up with the other pokemon just fine.]
